Classic document automation is deterministic: approved template language plus client data yields predictable output, which is why it has long been trusted for wills, leases, and corporate documents. Generative AI adds the ability to draft or adapt language beyond the template, trading some predictability for flexibility. Many firms combine the two—templates for settled language, AI for bespoke provisions—while keeping attorney review before anything is signed or filed.
